Overactive Bladder

Overactive Bladder

Overactive bladder causes frequent and sudden urges to urinate that can be difficult to control. This can lead to isolation and limiting of social activities. You may be able to manage your symptoms with dietary changes, timed urination and bladder holding techniques, but there is no current cure for an overactive bladder. This condition occurs when the muscles of the bladder start to contract involuntarily even when the volume of urine in your bladder is low, creating an urgent need to urinate. Conditions such as neurological disorders, diabetes, hormonal changes during menopause, and bladder stones can contribute to this disorder.
